Research interest
Medieval and post-medieval archaeology, building and urban history in the Southern Low Countries, building materials, building materials supply, building materials production, construction techniques, urban regulations in the field of construction
Current and past research projects in the field of Construction History
2015-2016: coordinator of the international network ‘Urban dynamics and construction in the cities and towns of the medieval West’, involving the Université de Paris 1, the University of Braga (Portugal), the Institut national universitaire Champollion d’Albi and the Université libre de Bruxelles ; project funded by the Partenariat Hubert Currien (Pessoa and Tournesol).
2013-: associated researcher with the project ‘Typological and dendrochronological inventory of ancient wooden frameworks in the Brussels capital region’ (Monument and Sites Directorate/Brussels Regional Public Service, University of Liège, Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage, Université libre de Bruxelles).
2012-2015: post-doctoral researcher of the F.R.S.-FNRS at the CReA-Patrimoine of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and at the Centre Européen d’Archéométrie of the Université de Liège (ULg): ‘Wood supplying and construction methods in the cities of the Southern Netherlands (Middle Ages-Modern Period). Case study: Brussels’.
2009-2011: post-doctoral researcher at the CREA-Patrimoine of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
